You will be escorted to the check in counter for your scheduled charter to Sabi Sands Game Reserve. On your arrival at Sabi Sands Game Reserve, you will be met by a representative from Kirkman’s Kamp who will then transfer you to the lodge in an open 4x4 safari vehicle. Depending on your arrival time, you will be in time for some refreshments followed by your first game drive.

Kirkman’s Kamp, with its spectacular views of the unspoiled wilderness, is regarded as one of the best loved lodges in the Sabi Sand Game Reserve. It is a well known historic camp, originally built in the early 1920’s, and celebrates the atmosphere of an early South African lowveld homestead. The colonial atmosphere of gracious style and luxury has been retained, and guests step back in time upon entering the original homestead, which now houses the Lodge’s sitting, dining and bar areas. Each of the 18 guest cottages has a private veranda and is furnished in the same charming style with ensuite bathrooms.

The large sitting room, with a 1920’s ambience, leads through double French doors onto rolling lawns that provide a velvety contrast to the wild and tumbling bush surrounding the Lodge. Breakfast and lunch are served on shady verandas, and dinners are shared in the dramatic boma or in romantic lanternlit bush settings.

Spend two nights at Sabi Sands Game Reserve at Kirkman’s Kamp. Accommodation is in a cottage. Your stay is on a fully inclusive basis (including: three meals, soft drinks, house wines, local brand spirits and beers, teas and coffees, scheduled safari activities, refreshments on game drives, one hour nature walks subject to availability accompanied by experienced armed trackers. Emergency medical evacuation insurance, laundry).

After check in and depending on your arrival time, you will have some time for lunch followed by your afternoon game drive.

Nestled under a canopy of mopane and tamboti trees, Ngala Safari Lodge features 20 classic thatched cottages and the luxurious Safari Suite. Each ensuite cottage, with private veranda, exudes a romantic colonial ambience with nostalgic safari memorabilia throughout. The gracious Safari Suite offers guests a spacious sitting room, private swimming pool, and exclusive use of a safari vehicle.

The Lodge’s large sparkling swimming pool overlooks natural riverine woodland. Hearty breakfasts and delicious lunches are served in the dappled shade of an enormous weeping boerbean tree. Upon their return from exhilarating evening game drives, guests are welcomed by Ngala’s warm, hospitable staff to a banquet in the elegant candlelit courtyard, or to an African feast around the blazing boma fire. The Lodge’s thatched dining, bar and sitting areas are open to the warm breezes of the inviting African bushveld.

Other South Africa Package Options

South Kruger
The Southern part of the Kruger Park falls within the area known as the Lowveld. It is a rich habitat and the congregation point of the numerous wildlife reserves and surrounding farmlands.

The Crocodile River marks the Kruger's Southern boundary, and provides a wonderful entry or exit point to the park as it provides a permanent watering hole for thirsty game. Accommodation in the area is varied, ranging from budget bungalows to luxury lodges. One of the private game reserves in the Southern Kruger region is the exclusive Sabi Sand Game Reserve which features a number of luxury game lodges offering tailormade safari activities led by excellent rangers and trackers

Sabi Sand
The Sabi Sand Reserve was formed in 1950 and comprises many private game farms covering an area of 56,000 ha. Sabi Sand offers a spectacular African safari experience with superb volume of game and quality of sightings. The Sand and the Sabi Rivers supply much-needed water to the region, creating an incredibly bio-diverse wildlife population. The reserve is also situated on a doleritic dyke, which ensures that the resulting soils are high in nutrition, producing one of the best grazing and browsing habitats in southern Africa.

Sabi Sand was at the forefront of the development of the open-vehicle safari where qualified guides provide a safari experience that is both personal and highly informative, affording close contact with the fauna and flora of the region. There are over 30 different lodges located in Sabi Sand, many of which are situated in the southern Kruger region

Pilanesberg
The beautiful Pilanesberg National Park will delight game viewers as it is a malaria-free zone and home to the Big Five. The Park was opened in 1979 as part of "Operation Genesis", the largest game resettlement project in the history of South Africa.

Although small, the Park is teaming with wildlife. View game from 4 x 4 safari vehicles, on walking trails or from the air in a hot air balloon. Experienced guides will ensure you get the most from your safari experience. The Park’s close proximity to Sun City makes it an ideal add-on for some exceptional game viewing. The Game Reserves of Madikwe and Waterberg are also nearby, so there is no shortage of game experiences in this region.

Madikwe
Home to a variety of wildlife, this 75 000-hectare (185 325-acre) reserve is one of South Africa’s biggest wildlife sanctuaries. Famed for Operation Phoenix, the world’s largest game translocation exercise with the introduction of more than 8000 animals, Madikwe’s diverse geology and broad mix of habitats allows a wide range of African wildlife to flourish – including the Big Five, cheetah and a thriving population of andangered wild dog.

The region is also imbued in history and has seen the passage of Mzilikazi and a range of explorers, traders, hunters and missionaries. Madikwe Game Reserve is run as a joint venture between the North West Parks Board, the private sector and the local communities. The game viewing opportunities in the region are endless. Visit the Pilanesberg and Waterberg for superb game and bird viewing or alternatively, visit the luxury entertainment resort of Sun City.

Waterberg
The Waterberg is an extremely vast area and covers an area of about 15 000 square kilometres in the most northern parts of South Africa. Characteristic of this area is the Waterberg Mountain Range which is one of the longest mountain ranges, not only in South Africa, but in the Southern Hemisphere.

These mountain formations were created when sediments were deposited in a huge trough known as the Waterberg basin, bounded on the north and south by two fault zones. The landmasses on either side of the zones have moved to form the Waterberg plateau, which looks like an enormous inverted saucer.

This fascinating region is within driving distance of the superb game reserves of Madikwe and Pilanesburg, not to mention the world-famous entertainment and leisure resort complex of Sun City.
